My feet are back on American soil after a few weeks in South America. However, my mind and my heart are still soaring with the energy of my trip to Brazil for the annual Carnaval festival. The Brazilians struck a chord in my heart that filled my whole spirit. If you have the opportunity to make the pilgrimage to this wonderful country then I would highly recommend you do.The thing that struck me most about the Brazilian people was the genuine warmth that they exude. I love America and I am a California girl through and through, but there was a certain relaxed vibe about the Brazilians that is not natural to America. I think when you live in a country where wealth and success are the ultimate end goal, there is a certain undercurrent of competition in all we do. I am not saying that it is necessarily a bad thing. I just noticed the difference.
This post was inspired by my recent trip to the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii. It’s not what you think. The trip was awesome and I had some of the most enjoyable sessions that I can recall of late. I was pleasantly surprised by the north shore as a surfing destination. I was totally presumptuous in assuming that it would be difficult to have an enjoyable surfing experience here. Not that is has anything to do with quality and quantity of waves, I just assumed that the localism would be tough to handle and that the potential to get stink eyed all the way home would be high. I was overwhelmingly stoked on how friendly the energy was. Granted, I am not trying to dominate the main peak at Pipe. This may be a completely different situation. Rather, I opted for some lessor frequented spots that are a little less on the radar and a little more your local neighborhood reef breaks. Which on second thought could be even more localized. Furthermore, I have to say that surfing as a woman here is awesome.
Before you get too excited let me explain. On Halloween I had the great pleasure of releasing my 2nd music video For the song Take Me off of the new album Levitate. I was so excited to release it as it such a well done music video and one of my favorites so far. I was blown away by the response 30,000 views in under a week. I was elated and happy to see the views and momentum gaining..and then…. apparently the video was spammed and the views in Bulgaria alone shot up above 100,000. We were sure that Bulgaria has just discovered their favorite new pop star until youtube sent us a notification that we had been spammed and they pulled the video down. We were so disheartened as the video was doing so well and everyone was sharing it like crazy!
Just wanted to send along a Happy Halloween and invite you to view the new “Take Me” music video. I am super proud of this creation and want to give special thanks to Dominic Gill and Nadia Boctor of Encompass Films for making this dream a reality. Furthermore, we had some wonderful folks volunteer their time and energy to make this happen. Thanks to Adam Lambert, Christian Friedland, Liz Kane, and David Boctor. We were able to create something that I will forever cherish. I sincerely hope you enjoy the video and if you do, please share with friends and family! It’s a perfect day to pass it around!
